Many of us maintain a facade of perfection and control, but our inner experiences around food and eating feel chaotic, painful, and ridden with shame. Celeb diets, 30 day challenges, and other quick fixes are tempting and everywhere. But we ultimately feel ashamed when they inevitably stop working—and we’re right back where we started, turning back to eating behaviors to cope.

So many of us are accomplished, high performing, achievement-driven women. But the tactics we might have used to get where we are—control, strict discipline, supreme functioning—don’t work for us when it comes to eating. When we relate to food as something to be controlled, monitored, or consumed mindlessly, we sacrifice the experience of actually enjoying it in the now. When eating is about distracting ourselves, numbing out, or keeping our hands busy, we miss the chance to connect with our bodies and experience the guiltless pleasure food can provide. 

If we stay on this hamster wheel too long, we miss out on a richer experience of life—the only one we have to live. Keeping our brains preoccupied with macros math, pounds lost or gained, and obsessive thought loops leaves no room for living and enjoying the life of luxury we deserve. the sensual pleasure, joy, and trust that are available to us.

Somehow we feel like failures for not knowing how to implement something we have never learned how to do.
